About Love On A Small Island / Sobre El Amor En Una Isla Pequeña

This ethnographic film is about romantic love, elopement and marriage in a Muslim society. It’s also a journey that reflects on women’s living conditions and attempts to strip away beliefs, myths and prejudices about Muslim women. Following the everyday life of a man and his two wives in Queshm Island, Iran, this film tells the story of two women and one man cohabiting together after a love relationship dramatically changed their life.

 

Esta película etnográfica se trata del matrimonio, el amor romántico y la infidelidad en una sociedad musulmana. También es un viaje que reflexiona sobre las condiciones de vida de las mujeres e intenta corregir las creencias, los mitos y los prejuicios sobre las mujeres musulmanas. Siguiendo la vida cotidiana de un hombre y sus dos mujeres en la Isla de Queshm, Iran, esta película cuenta la historia de dos mujeres y un hombre que conviven juntos después de que una relación amorosa cambió su vida dramáticamente.

DIRECTORA

Elaheh Habibi is an Iranian documentary filmmaker and visual art scholar based in Paris, France. With an interdisciplinary background in political science and gender studies, she graduated from the University of Manchester in Visual Anthropology. She was recently awarded the doctoral Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship to join the research project Mediating Islam in the Digital Age, in which she focuses on history of photography in modern Iran.

 

Elaheh Habibi es una cineasta Iraní de cine documental y una académica de artes visuales asentada en Paris, Francia. Con un perfil interdisciplinar en ciencias políticas y estudios de género, se graduó en la Universidad de Manchester, Reino Unido en Antropología Visual. Recientemente, Elaheh recibió la beca doctoral Marie Skłodowska-Curie para formar parte del proyecto de investigación ‘Mediating Islam in the Digital Age’ / Mediar Islam en la Era Digital, en el que ella se enfoca en la historia de fotografía en el Irán contemporáneo.
