  • One of the most outstanding heterodox economists in the world, who has made important contributions in areas such as: macroeconomic theory, development economics, international economics and political economy.

    His current research focuses on: unequal development and globalization, models of growth and income distribution, consumption and happiness, and the political economy of war and peace. He is the author and editor of several books, among the most recent are: 'Happiness, economics and politics' (2009) and 'Economics and ethics' (2010). Author of more than 140 articles published in scientific journals of economics, co-editor of the international journal Metroeconomía and professor at the University of Notre Dame, USA.

    He has taught at Cambridge University (United Kingdom), Université Paris Sorbonne (France), Universität Innsbruck (Austria), Università degli studi di Pavia (Italy), among others. Teach and research at FLACSO Ecuador since 2007.
