Mercedes Prieto (PhD, University of Florida, Gainesville). Anthropologist with an interdisciplinary option in history and professor in the Department of Anthropology, History and Humanities in the Ecuador campus of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences. His research interest has focused on the complex historical process of the interactions between indigenity, race and gender as forms of social control, political action and knowledge policies. So, for example, in his book 'State and coloniality. Women and families from the Sierra del Ecuador '(FLACSO 2015) traces the relationships between knowledge, state formation and indigenous women. This interest in the state and knowledge is extended to the Andean nations in their collaborative publication 'The Andean Indian Program 1951-1973. Women in state development assemblies' (FLACSO / IEP 2017).
