Estudios de heterogeneidad de los sistemas agro-alimentarios y sus impactos en la salud y el ambiente. Se usa el enfoque centrado en los actores y la perspectiva de estilos de agricultura con el objetivo de encontrar desviaciones positivas que contribuyan al diseño de políticas públicas.

Biography

  • She studied Sociology of Rural Development and Management of Agricultural Knowledge Systems at the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands. She is also an agronomist of the Pan American Agricultural School in Honduras. This training has enabled her to conduct research on socio-technical character relating the agro-food system with health and environment.

    Her experience includes: studies of heterogeneity, in the context of agricultural modernization, in Ecuador for the University of Wageningen; impacts of the national program to promote Integrated Pest Management CATIE in Nicaragua for the Commonwealth Agriculture Bureau International (CABI); and series of researches in order to understand the rural reality and enhance development programs at national and international level. She has also worked as professor for undergraduate and graduate programs at international universities, including Wageningen University in the Netherlands, Canada Trent University and the Catholic University of Ibarra in Ecuador. She is the founder of the Latin American Humanist conference on agriculture, health, environment and agro-ecological farming practices.
