Academic formation: B.A. in Anthropology (PUCE-Ecuador), Masters in Social Anthropology (Center of Research and High Studies on Social Anthropology, CIESAS/Mexico D.F.) and Ph.D in Social Science (CEPPAC/UNB).
She has worked as consultant in national and international environmental nongovernmental organizations, in international cooperation (GIZ), in the area of Social Equity in the International Union for Nature Conservation (UICN, regional office for South America) and recently, she works in the United Nation System (UN Women- Rights area DESCA).
She has conducted research related to territory rights of indigenous peoples. Territory/territoriality and biodiversity, conservation and indigenous peoples. She has coordinated projects linked to sustainable lifestyles with indigenous Andean people, biodiversity management and amazon indigenous peoples, environmental agendas by indigenous women in the Andean region. She has evaluated planning of territory and environmental management with indigenous communities. In the last years, she has supported organization processes of indigenous peoples, with special interest in the link between rights and environment in countries from the Andean region. (Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and Bolivia).
Her participation in the Socio-environmental Studies program at FLACSO starts as associate professor. Currently, she is research professor from the Department of Development, Environment and Territory at FLACSO.
