  • He won the National Award "Enrique Fuentes Quintana" from the Foundation FUNCAS for the best doctoral thesis published in Spain in 2008. He holds a Masters in European Studies in Tilburg (Netherlands) and a doctorate at the University of Salamanca. His research areas include regional economics, economic growth, foreign trade and the public economy. He teaches undergraduate students in Spain and graduate students in Ecuador.

    In 2007, he was Coordinator of the Doctorate in Economics and Development Economics. He is currently research professor in the Department of Development, Environment and Territory at FLACSO. He participates in the research group that made the analysis of the economic situation funded by the Latin American Institute of Social Research (ILDIS) and FLACSO. He has participated in numerous international events as a speaker and lecturer.
