Biography

  • Ph.D. in Sociology at El Colegio de Mexico. Masters in Anthropology at FLACSO Ecuador and Bachelor of Sociology and Political Science at the PUCE-Quito. Expert in political sociology, social inequality and urban ethnography. His doctoral thesis analyzes the political practices in areas of urban segregation in Mexico City.

    His research interests include issues on collective action and protest, state reform, decentralization and political reform in Ecuador. He has also done research on indigenous movements, ethnicity and politics in Otavalo, social issues in Ecuador and political participation of young people. Specialist in qualitative and ethnographic methods. He is interested in the use of quantitative methods of sociological research. Currently his interest include the study of social inequalities and political participation.
