  • American-Puerto Rican feminist economist expert in land policies and agrarian reform and gender in the development of Latin America. He has conducted numerous investigations on the ownership of assets and the economic autonomy of women. She has a long history of participation in editorial committees of international indexed journals and is an associate editor of the magazine Feminist Economics. In 2018 he received the Kalman Silvert Award from the Association of Latin American Studies (LASA), the highest recognition of the association, for his contributions to research and the profession.

    She received his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and his MA in Development Studies from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in the USA. Currently, she is a distinguished professor emeritus of Latin American Studies and Agricultural Economics at the University of Florida, and emerita professor of the Department of Sociology and Gender Studies at FLACSO Ecuador.
