In Bogota, Betty Espinosa, coordinator of the Department of Public Affairs, will participate in the VII International Symposium on Public Policies: Approaches, theories and methods for analyzing public policy, to be held at the National University of Colombia, 27 and 28 may. Professor Espinosa coordinate the presentation table of books and journals, of which it forms part "Mundos Plurales" Revista Latinoamericana de Políticas y Acción Pública of FLACSO Ecuador. The meeting is organized by the National Universities of Colombia and Valle.
Alexander Méndez Sayago, PhD student in Development Economics 2011-2014, defended his doctoral thesis "Relación entre los salarios y la productividad en Colombia", directed by Leonardo Vera, professor at the Central University of Venezuela. The court was composed by: David Jacho of Emory University, Pedro Romero from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito and Marco Missaglia and Fernando Martin from FLACSO Ecuador.
In New York City, professors, researchers and students of the University will participate in the XXXIV International Congress of the Latin American Studies Association LASA 2016 / LASA fiftieth anniversary, to be held from 27 to 30 May. This edition of the meeting proposed to conduct a retrospective analysis of Latin American studies around the logic of mobilization of the field and its effects on actors, transnational flows and identities, as well as challenges for the region in participatory and social field. LASA is an association of individuals and institutions dedicated to the study of Latin America and every year through academic conferences, it promotes intellectual debate, research and teaching about the region and its inhabitants.
The article "Buen Vivir. ¿Alternativa al Neoliberalismo?" of César Carranza, teacher visitor of the Department of International Studies and Communication, and Renato Rivera, student of the Mastery in International Relations, was published in the indexed Spanish magazine "Pensamiento al Margen".The article analyzes from a critical perspective, the concept and the regime of `Good Living´ promoted during the last years in Ecuador, seeking to establish their reach, continuities and breaks in the conceptual and practical policy with regard to the neoliberalism.
